More than 70 legal professionals and investors joined Cetinkaya for the first in our series of webinars co-hosted with Clyde & Co. Held on 6 May 2021, the webinar provided potential investors with a comprehensive overview of renewable energy opportunities in Turkey from the industry’s key players.
As the importance of the renewables sector continues to develop globally, Turkey is ambitious to stimulate growth in the market. While investment in renewable energy continues to expand across many jurisdictions the Turkish Government is backing renewable energy as part of its energy strategy, considering the future of solar, hydro and geothermal resources and the offshore wind potential in the Sea of Marmara and the Aegean Sea.
The webinar, which was hosted and moderated by Georg Scherpf and Orcun Cetinkaya, addressed the country’s current and future opportunities in relation to the general legal framework for renewable energy in Turkey. Investors who joined the webinar benefitted from detailed insight into the support programs currently in force with speakers from Cetinkaya and Clyde & Co., plus a host of industry experts. Topics covered also included the protection of investment and dispute resolution considerations.
Renewable energy investment specialist Volkan Öztürk, from YILSAN Yatırım Holding A.Ş gave his unique insight into the sector’s future with his speech “Renewables in Turkey in 10 Years”, while Batu Aksoy, from Turcas Petrol A.Ş delivered a keynote speech on The Energy Landscape in Turkey.
